Why

Empathy is the mechanism we use to connect with others, making it an essential human quality. It is core to who we are.

Yes, some are better at empathizing than others, but like muscles and fitness, we can all improve with practice. And also, if we don't practice, our abilities will weaken. That's why Flex Empathy is here.

​

Sure you can win some money, but more important, these events will boost your ability to empathize and to communicate understanding. That is its real value. Because as AI and other technologies continue to pull us apart, empathy is threatened. Some experts believe that powerful tech companies want empathy to die so that we are forced to get all our satisfaction from the products and services they sell instead of hanging out and connecting with our friends. We must not let the tech profiteers win.

People are starting to take action. Our greatest joy comes from connecting and engaging with others. Flex Empathy events enhance your skills and drive connection with others. In the weeks ahead we will launch online communities where you may directly connect with other participants. 
 

And leadership?


Companies, organizations, and all group seeking to accomplish tasks need leaders. But what kind of leaders? We need empathetic leadership. These are people who understand the minds and hearts of the people they are tasked to lead. The core is empathy. 
 

Leaders must understand our needs and desires, communicate that understanding, then engage us to create a plan for what we need and want. We need leaders we can trust to truly care about us.

And organizations will hire those with proven empathetic leadership skills. As the diagram below shows, even if you only make it into the third round, you are within the top 3%. Hiring managers would love to speak with you. And part of our program is to help you connect with them and explain your accomplishment.​

For all participants we allow use of the texts below for use in your profile or resumes or cover letters. We will provide the success level and number of entries of your activity on your request.

I was a participant in a Flex Empathy contest and I was among the top finishers as chosen by my peer participants. 


I was chosen to be group leader __ times, achieving the __ percentile. To accomplish this I created ___ text entries and successfully identified the entries that my group most valued. To be chosen as group leader, my point totals were highest in my group. Points are assigned based on how may people selected my entries (“Entry Points”) and by how many others selected entries that I also selected (“Vote Points”). Vote Points measure the ability to understand what the group will most value and Entry Points measure the ability to communicate that understanding in a way the group will find compelling.
